Flowers
After creating dozens of ceramic flowers for Make-Believe installation, flowers crept into the figurative work. Woman as a flower, delicate, beautiful, and ephemeral, has been part of my cultural indoctrination. I even had a role as a singing flower in a first grade musical production. The flower figures explore the various symbolic meanings of flower imagery, embracing both the positive and negative to represent the experiences of women and children. One must determine whether the flowers are beautiful, or mutations, and whether the figures are embracing, or at odds with their flower role.
